Rotation of 5

A tricky configuration arises when the two edges: YB, RB, appear to be swapped.

In the standard layer-by-layer methods, this configuration is presented in a way that hides the following very interesting point of view:

Focusing our attention on the 5 edges: YB, RY, YG, OY, and RB, what seems a swap between the two edges YB, RB, Can also be seen as a rotation of the five edges

May be an example could clarify the idea.

Look at the numbers below: (each one represent one of the 5 edges on the Cube 3x3)

2 3 4 5 1

It looks like the number 5 is an intruder between the yellow numbers and there is an order inversion between the number 5 and the number 1

Moving the number 1 to the start of the list:

1 2 3 4 5

Now everything looks perfectly sorted out

An anti-clockwise rotation of the edges : YB, RY, YG, OY, RB, fixes the permutation.

The magic is done! RB is correctly placed. YB, RY, YG, OY are on Layer 3 and in the correct order

Remains the case when edges are oriented that way: Same place different orientation.

Even this configuration can be managed in many different approaches.
